We tried surfing on Wakiki Beach. You’ve got to really haven’t you(?) It was a lot of fun but so much more difficult than it looks. It didn’t help that the water was completely packed with people. I think I only managed to catch about 2 or 3 waves and actually ride them out for longer than a few seconds but it’s the taking part that counts
