Might as well start this off with possibly my favourite photo I’ve ever taken. Or at least, my most ‘acclaimed’.. I won The Guardian Travel Photo of the Month with this photo back in February 2008.

Taken on the banks of the Nile, near Luxor, I took a quick snapshot as this boat came steaming into dock, and I got lucky. We then spent an hour or so watching the stunning sunset from a boat in the middle of the river and none of the other photos came out as well as this. But it was great nonetheless. Oh, and the boys name is Ahmed, and he likes Steven Gerrard.
