During the first week of June, most of Sicily seems to have this festival to celebrate Santa Rosalia. We were in Palermo on the last night of the festivities, and got caught up in the thick of the celebrations as a massive golden figure covered in rose petals was paraded through the city from the Cathedral to the seafront. It was bizarre. There were fireworks, big bands, sweet stalls and general madness and people were loving it. Quite an experience.
