Kicking off a week of Sicilian based photos, this is a (somewhat) typical back street in Palermo. Before going, we’d read plenty of stuff about how the Mafia still has a firm grip on the city, and not to venture too far from the tourist path so I was slightly apprehensive but in reality, we never came across anything frightening. Apart from the traffic. But that’s another story. Essentially, driving around Palermo makes you a man . What there IS a lot of, is dilapidated buildings.. we even saw a student protest about it at one point.. It’s a shame, (but it makes for nice photos).
